Team editing & trades f.a.q.

Q: Why do some teams seem to have a larger salary cap/team worth than I do? What is the salary cap? A: Due to the variations in player prices each round, some teams rise in value, and sometimes it appears that they're over the salary cap. Every team starts with exactly the same salary cap value ($1,300,000).

Q: I have selected a player who has since become injured or dropped from the team. Can I replace him? A: You can modify your line-ups for the Sportal NBL Dream Team™ competition from your substitutes list at any time while a round is NOT in progress. You'll also have a total of 2 trades available to you after each round has concluded, with a total of 30 changes allowed for the Season.

Q: In the real game, player X has played as a Guard in the last 3 round of the real competition, yet you have him listed as a Forward. Why? Can he be moved? A: Player positions were determined based on the position/s that each player has played in most frequently in the past. Where this was not available, positions were determined by researching reliable information sources on each player. Some players can play very versatile roles in any given match, or to cover injuries. Players are locked in their positions at the beginning of the competition and no movement or changes will be made to keep the competition fair and equal throughout. Your player/s will score points based on their performance, regardless of their position.

Your Team HQ

Once you've selected your full team of 10 players, you'll be able to access your team page. Here, you can view and edit your entire team list and each player's scoring and performance breakdown, while a round is not in progress.

Your Team is arranged into your Starting 5 and bench consisting of 5 Substitutes. This is initially done at random, however you can edit your team as much as you like, right up until the entry cut-off time at the beginning of the upcoming Round's games.

You can move players between your Starting 5 and Substitutes based on their matching positions. It is very important that you have your best 5 in your starting line-up - Your Starting 5 will score FULL POINTS (as this is your on-field team that is entered), while your 5 substitutes will only add HALF their points to your overall team score. In general you will be able to edit your Starting 5 and Substitutes at all times when a Round of matches is not being played out. Your team is entered as it stands at the start of the first game of the Round, and you are unable to edit it further until the entire Round is played, and scores have been processed.

Keep in mind that some teams may play twice or more, or not play at all in any given round. You'll receive the COMBINED TOTAL score of all matches from each player in any round. Be sure to substitute and trade accordingly.

Team & player value

Player pricing will also play a part in team selection and trading, and your overall team value. Each player's price will vary based on their most current performance from round to round. A rolling average is used to determine how a player's value changes and they must have played at least 3 games in order for their value to increase or decrease. Your team value is determined based on the overall value of your selected players, plus any leftover amount in your salary cap from the start of the Season and from completed trades.

Substitutions

Click the button to substitute the desired OUT of your starting 5. Then, select a highlighted replacement from the substitutes in the matching position to complete your substitution. In 'player stats view', simply select the replacement substitute from the "substitute with" drop-down, next to the player you wish to substitute out.

Trades

You can make unlimited trades on your initial team entry. Your team will be locked in and entered at the start of the next upcoming round. You'll then be able to trade up to TWO players on the conclusion of each round. However, you'll only have a total of 30 trades for the entire Season. It's entirely your decision as to when and how you use them. Be sure to choose carefully, as all changes are FINAL and cannot be reversed. Player trades will not be transferable from one round to the next - you can only make a maximum of 2 TRADES per round, from the 30 that are available for the entire Season.

Captain & Vice Captain

Your captain scores double points. You can also select a vice captain - your vice captain will score double points ONLY if your captain is a late withdrawal or doesn't play for any reason (eg. gets a score of 0). You can change your captain and vice captain as much and as often as you like prior to the start of each round.
