Q: Why are there restrictions and limits on player selection for each position? A: To make the competition challenging and more reflective of the actual sport, position limits have been set up to reflect a true team in selecting the appropriate amount of players in their rightful positions.

Q: How many teams do I have to start with, and do I need to have that exact number? A: You MUST select 10 players in order enter the Sportal NBL Dream Team™ competition. From those 10, you'll then be able to choose which 5 are your Starting line-up, and therefore score full points each game. Your 5 remaining Substitutes add half their points to your total Team score. You can edit these at any time while a Round is NOT in progress.

Q: What if I can't find a player in the game? A: We have taken great care to ensure that every team's entire player list is featured in the competition. If you believe that a certain team is not available, you can search from the Stats Centre to check whether the player is in the game. If you can't find them, please contact us and let us know.

Select your complete team

Once you've registered and logged in, you'll need to select your Sportal NBL Dream Team™. You must select a FULL TEAM OF 10 PLAYERS before the beginning of the next upcoming round in order to score points. You'll not score any points if your team is incomplete and you'll not be entered in the public and private league games.

In the Sportal NBL Dream Team™ competition, all players are available to all participants. It's an all-in competition, where all participants are ranked against everyone else, based on their skilful selection of the best 10 players that can be afforded by the salary cap for Season 2011-12.

Note that some teams will have 'byes' or not play for various reasons in some rounds - you'll not score points in that particular game round from those players. Other teams will be scheduled to play twice - you'll receive the points from ALL of their performances in any given round.

Selection restrictions

You can select your Sportal NBL Dream Team™ by following the simple instructions through the player draft process, which is arranged in the THREE position groups. players from all of the 9 teams are available for selection. The only selection restrictions are:

a) Your $1,300,000 salary cap; and
b) You'll select the exact number of players required in each position, which are:

4 x Guards
2 x Centres
4 x Forwards

These restrictions are automatically enforced so that they cannot be broken, and your selected team will always be valid. You'll just need to make sure that you've selected and entered a complete squad. Your team will comprise of a starting line-up of 5 players who will score FULL points towards your team in each round, and a bench of 5 players adding HALF their points based on their actual performances.
